Emotions rule us, most of the times. No matter whatever strong face we may put on to hide them, they may erupt suddenly and out pour from our inner minds! We are emotional creatures! Emotions drive us around! We may often fall as the victims of it! But for some people, it may be the last refuge, the last consolation or they are left with emotions as a disability!
When he met that old man, sitting in the chair gloomy in front of his house, had nothing other than a friendly 'how are you today?' question in his mind. Asking such questions are not bad after all!
"Are you alright today?" he just enquired.
"I am well, thank you" the reply came instantly.
" I am waiting for my wife to come"
"That's great"
"She is ninety four years old and I am ninenty seven..!"
"Oh..really!"
"Yes..we were married for seventy five years!"
"My God..! You are really blessed!"
"Yes.. we are..we used to be the childhood sweet hearts..!"
"Have you got children?"
"Yes..three . One boy and two girls. They have grand children now!"
"That is amazing!"
"Then where is your wife now?"
"She is admitted in the hospital. They phoned me yesterday that she is going to come home today. I am waiting for her."
"So she is not yet home today?"
"No..I don't know why. Nobody called me today..!"
His face was getting gloomy, but he continued..
"She knows that I will worry too much.. She can't stand that. I do not want her to worry either.."
Tears rolled down from his eyes towards his hollow cheeks. He wept and seemed to be unable to control it.
"I am very sorry.. I might have upset you by asking these unwanted questions..!"
He went and touched that man on his shoulders. He tried to sooth him as if he was doing that to a crying child!
" No..no.. you did not upset me.. You are a gentleman..! Thank you very much..Thank you very much..!" The old man said.
World looked like an endless ocean of emotions to him when he left that man. 'We all are swimming in that ocean', he thought!
